“Whatever you think you can do or believe you can do, begin it. Action has magic, grace, and power in it.”

― Julia Cameron, The Artist's Way

Eurythmy Curriculum

DIPLOMA OVERVIEW

An internationally-recognised, four-year diploma

Four full-time, eight-week terms per year
The experience is grounding, freeing and…fun!

Daily classes

  • Speech eurythmy

The elements of spoken word are unraveled and given new depth as they are transformed into dynamic movement

  • Tone eurythmy

The elements of music and melody are granted new meaning with respect to physical motion and space

Students learning about music theory around a piano

Twice weekly

  • Speech and Drama

Voice training as exploration of dynamic movement inherent in phonemes, breath, phrasing. Stage presence, character, and physical storytelling

  • Music Theory

Pitch, rhythm, dynamics, intervals, harmonies, timbre and arrangement

Weekly

  • Copper rods

Self, spacial and social awareness as well as dexterity and control in movement and balance and grace in gesture.

  • Choral singing

Putting music theory into practice: rhythm, harmonies and listening skills.

  • Form drawing

The formative principles active in the movements of the natural world are grasped and practised in the two dimensional space, also the choreographic principles of eurythmy, that give rise to a kind of complex ‘map-making’ for word, poetry and music.

  • Biodynamic gardening

Observation is a critical skill for eurythmy, and the dynamic growth forms of plants are wonderful studies. The great food is a bonus!
